The DaVinci IQ was first released in 2016. It had an elegant look, a luxurious feel and worked perfectly as a daily portable vape. While the device was nothing short of amazing, it had a few shortcomings. Among them was the highly resistant draw and most vapers had difficulty getting to all the nooks and crannies of the device during cleaning.

As any good manufacturer, DaVinci took the lessons in stride and released the DaVinci IQ2. An improvement of the original IQ that irons out all the grievances that came with the original. It also has new features, an improved design, and a few reliability changes. It is now a more solid and more reliable vaporiser.

How the DaVinci IQ2 Works

The IQ2 has quite a few things going on underneath that aluminium body. First, you will flip open the underside of the unit to reveal the herb chamber. The herb chamber is sizeable, accommodating about 0.5grams of dry herb.

Grind the herb a little fine and pack it down slightly after filling up the chamber fully. Replace the component and flip back the underside.

Press and hold the main button down to power the device up. There are two other buttons you can use to adjust the temperature selection or select your desired Smart Path. After the selection, the device will begin warming up immediately and vibrate when it’s ready.

You can also use the flavour chamber or the concentrate pod more or less the same way you use the device with dry herb.

When the device vibrates, you can inhale gently and enjoy your first session. The fully packed bowl should give you about 5-10 minutes worth of hits. You can load less herb by adjusting the pearl on the chamber door to accommodate smaller loads for smaller sessions. For microdosing, there are glass spacers you can use to further reduce the bowl.

The IQ2 has a unique feature that lets you track and monitor the dosage amounts. All you have to do is hit the control button twice. It will allow you to set the potency of your flower and set how much you want to take in. You can also monitor all these parameters using the app and also make any necessary changes.

Temperature Flexibility

This is another area where the IQ2 surpasses expectations especially considering the size of the device. Just like the original IQ, IQ2 has full temperature control. Its temperature range maxes at 222⁰C, meaning you have plenty of room to play around with your preferences.

The Smart Paths are vital in steering your experience and ease the process of temperature selection for less experienced vapers.

The Smart Paths are adjustable. You can tailor and curate them to follow whatever temperature curve you want using the DaVinci smartphone app. The temperature versatility of the IQ2 is one of the strongest suits of the device. You can get a nice and tasty hit with full extraction.

Vapour Quality

The IQ2 has one of the best conduction vapour qualities in the market. The vapour clouds are dense and loaded with flavour. It has impressive smoothness especially given in its size. Also, DaVinci opened up the airflow on the IQ2, so it has a smoother and less restrictive draw.

There's an airflow dial at the bottom for adjustment, which is quite handy and has changed the vapour: air ratio depending on what you set it to.

The IQ2 delivers stronger and more robust flavours compared to convection or hybrid vapes. It may come down to preference, and some vapers are hybrid or convection loyalists, but the IQ2 does an amazing job of trying to get you to cross over.
